Patna: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna (AIIMS Patna) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Patna to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into healthcare services and strengthen cybersecurity infrastructure. The initiative aims to enhance patient care through faster diagnosis, early disease detection, predictive health analytics, improved hospital management systems and secure digital medical records.
The MoU was formalized at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, underscoring the national importance of the collaboration.
Under the partnership, AI-enabled clinical decision support systems will assist doctors in analysing medical reports, radiological scans and laboratory data with greater speed and precision, ensuring timely treatment. Advanced imaging analytics and deep learning tools will help in early detection of life-threatening conditions such as cancer and trauma-related injuries. Predictive data models will support preventive healthcare by identifying high-risk patients for proactive monitoring and intervention.
Whereas Smart digital systems will streamline patient registration, appointment scheduling and hospital workflow, reducing waiting time and improving overall service delivery. Strengthened cybersecurity measures will safeguard sensitive medical records, ensuring patient privacy and data integrity.
As part of the agreement, AIIMS Patna will soon establish an Artificial Intelligence Special Purpose Hub (AI-SPH) in association with CDAC Mohali and Noida. The Hub will function as a Centre of Excellence for AI research, innovation and capacity building in healthcare. It will focus on training healthcare professionals in AI applications, conducting research on regional health priorities including communicable diseases, maternal and child health, trauma care and non-communicable diseases, promoting collaboration between clinicians and technology experts and developing secure digital health systems. The AI-SPH will serve as a nodal centre for medical colleges across Bihar and Jharkhand.
The MoU was signed by representatives of both institutions. From AIIMS Patna, Nilotpal Bal, Deputy Director (Administration), Dr. Abhyuday Kumar, Faculty In-Charge (IT) and Dr. Pallam Gopi Chand, Deputy Faculty In-Charge (IT), were present.
