Patna: In a heartfelt and impactful observance of National Safe Motherhood Day, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at AIIMS Patna curated a week long journey of awareness, innovation and academic engagement culminating in a powerful CME session themed “Strong Mothers, Safe Future.”
More than just a celebration, the initiative became a movement of care and consciousness bringing together doctors, residents and patients under one shared goal: safeguarding the lives of mothers and newborns.
The week unfolded with a vibrant patient awareness drive that translated medical knowledge into meaningful conversations, empowering expectant mothers with the confidence to prioritize their health. Adding a creative spark, resident doctors participated in a poster making competition, transforming complex maternal health themes into compelling visual narratives.
The grand finale CME was inaugurated by an eminent panel including Raju Agarwal, Executive Director; Dr. Punam Bhadani; Dr. Sanjay Pandey; Dr. Ruchi Sinha and Dr. Anup Kumar whose presence underscored the institute’s unwavering commitment to maternal health.
In his address, Prof. (Brig) Dr. Raju Agarwal delivered a compelling message on the transformative power of quality antenatal care, emphasizing that timely, attentive care is the cornerstone of reducing maternal mortality and morbidity. He applauded the department for fostering a culture where academic excellence meets compassionate care.
Dr. Mukta Agarwal, Head of OBGY, highlighted a crucial insight “Every high-risk pregnancy identified early is a life safeguarded.” She stressed that proactive screening and timely intervention are key to rewriting maternal health outcomes.
Adding a collaborative perspective, Prof. Sangam Jha spoke passionately about synchronizing labour room teamwork, noting that seamless coordination among healthcare professionals can make the difference between risk and reassurance, fear and safety.
The CME witnessed enthusiastic participation from gynecologists, pediatricians and paramedical staff, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue, learning and shared purpose. The energy in the room reflected a collective belief that safe motherhood is not just a goal but a responsibility.
