Patna: Senior IAS officer Ajay Yadav on Tuesday assumed charge as Secretary of Bihar’s Energy Department and Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL).
The charge handover ceremony was attended by senior officials of the department and power distribution companies, including South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) and the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) Managing Director Rahul Kumar.

Review of power sector operations
Soon after assuming office, Yadav held a review meeting with senior officials to assess the current status of the state’s power sector.
Discussions focused on electricity supply arrangements, progress of ongoing projects and issues related to consumer services. Officials also reviewed operational priorities and infrastructure-related matters.
Focus on public services
Yadav said the department’s priority would be to ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues faced by the public, in line with the state government’s commitments.
He stressed the need to strengthen citizen-centric services, improve public infrastructure and make field-level operations more effective.
Push for renewable energy schemes
The new Energy Secretary said effective and speedy implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana and PM Kusum Yojana would remain among the department’s key priorities.
Both schemes are aimed at promoting renewable energy adoption and expanding access to decentralised solar power infrastructure.
Inspection of State Load Dispatch Centre
Yadav also inspected the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), where he reviewed operational systems and grid management mechanisms.
During the visit, he examined arrangements related to smooth functioning of the power system, real-time monitoring and grid operations. He also issued necessary directions to officials.
