Patna: As Bihar’s political temperature rises ahead of the assembly elections, Bhojpuri cinema continues to find itself at the centre of political intrigue. Days after “Power Star” Pawan Singh met BJP chief JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, fellow Bhojpuri icon Akshara Singh has sparked buzz by meeting Union Minister Giriraj Singh.
Akshara Singh shared a photograph with the minister on social media, captioned: “Today I had a courtesy meeting and received the blessings of Honorable Giriraj Singh ji.” The brief post was enough to set off a wave of speculation across Bihar’s political circles, with social media users debating whether it was a simple meeting or a hint at a political debut.

While the actress did not specify whether the meeting took place in Delhi or Bihar, her post triggered a flood of reactions. One user commented, “It seems she’s going to get a ticket against Pawan Singh this time.”
However, Akshara’s father Indrajit Singh quickly dismissed the rumours, clarifying that the family’s relationship with BJP leaders is personal, not political. “Our entire family are BJP cadre voters. We have long-standing ties with actor-MP Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan. Akshara shares a family bond with Giriraj Singh. She has received political offers in the past but is currently focused on her film career,” he said.
He added that Akshara may consider politics “when the time is right.”
This is not the first time Akshara Singh’s name has surfaced in Bihar’s political chatter. In November 2023, she appeared on Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj platform alongside her father, sparking speculation of her joining the movement. However, she later clarified that her participation was issue-based, not political.
“I want to refute these claims. I am not associated with any political party. I had joined that event because I believed in his ideology and his village outreach programme, but I am not part of it on paper,” she told reporters in an earlier interview.
