Patna: Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU), Patna, has extended the deadline for admissions to its postgraduate, diploma and technical programmes for the 2026-27 academic session until June 15.
The university administration said the decision was taken to provide additional time for prospective students to complete the online application process. The earlier deadline had been set for May 31.
Officials have urged interested candidates to submit their applications through the university’s online admission portal before the revised deadline.
Strong Response For Several Courses
According to figures released by the university, the Bachelor in Maithili Folk Painting programme has attracted the highest number of applicants so far, receiving 187 applications against 50 available seats.
The M.Tech in Water Resource Engineering programme has received 64 applications for 24 seats.
Other programmes have also witnessed considerable interest, with 45 applications received for the MBA programme, 26 for the MA in Philosophy course and 18 for M.Tech in Nano Science.
University officials said the response indicates growing student interest in both traditional and emerging academic disciplines.
Journalism And Mass Communication Courses Open For Admission
Admissions are also underway at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication for the MA in Journalism and Mass Communication programme.
The school is additionally offering postgraduate diploma courses in Filmmaking, Photography, Science Communication, Development Communication, and Digital and Online Journalism.
Each of these programmes has an intake capacity of 30 seats.
Seats Available Across Multiple Schools
The School of Geographical Studies is offering 50 seats for its MA in Geography programme.
At the Patliputra School of Economics, 40 seats are available for the MA in Economics course.
The School of Management Teachings has earmarked 60 seats for its MBA programme, while the School of Astronomy is offering 10 seats in the MSc in Space Science and Astronomy programme.
The School of Stem Cell Technology has allocated 20 seats for the Master of Science (Research) in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine programme.
Meanwhile, the School of Philosophy is offering 30 seats for its MA in Philosophy course.
Growing Interest In New Programmes
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharad Yadav said student interest in admissions has increased this year, particularly for newly introduced courses.
He noted that applicants are showing greater enthusiasm for specialised and interdisciplinary programmes being offered by the university.
