Patna: The NDA appeared on course to form the next government in Bihar on Friday, with all 29 ministers in the current administration holding steady leads in their respective constituencies as counting progressed. Both deputy chief ministers — Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha — are also on the brink of victory, according to early trends.

The ministers—16 from the BJP and 13 from the JDU—are among the 243 candidates whose fates will be sealed today. Their consistent leads suggest a consolidated backing for the alliance amid a high-stakes contest.

BJP ministers maintain strong momentum

Among the BJP’s prominent faces, former deputy chief minister Renu Devi has regained a comfortable lead in Bettiah, while Nitin Naveen is heading towards victory in Bankipur. Mangal Pandey, the health minister, is also ahead in Siwan, boosting the party’s confidence in its core urban and semi-urban pockets.

JDU ministers also ahead across key constituencies

On the JDU side, veteran leader and Nitish Kumar’s close aide Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has increased his lead in Sarairanjan, while minister Lesy Singh is ahead in Dhamdaha. Shravan Kumar, Nitish Kumar’s long-time confidant, is narrowly ahead in Nalanda, leading by only eight votes at one point.

Education minister Sunil Kumar is leading from Bhore, adding to the JDU’s strong showing.

List of leading ministers

Key ministerial leads so far:
