Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday held back-to-back election rallies in Khagaria and Munger, delivering a sharp political attack on the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) and its leaders, Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav, while calling on voters to back the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Speaking at a rally in Khagaria, Shah warned that if the RJD-led alliance returned to power, it would bring back the lawlessness that once gripped Bihar. “If a government of Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is formed, jungle raj will return to Bihar,” he said. “Kidnapping, robbery, murder, and ransom will again become routine, and people will fear stepping out after sunset.”
He urged the people of Khagaria to ensure the NDA’s victory in all four constituencies, saying, “The choice is yours—do you want to move Bihar forward on the path of development, or take it back to the pre-2005 days?”
At another rally held at Nauagadhi in Munger, Shah continued his attack, accusing the Congress and Grand Alliance of dynastic politics and corruption. “Lalu-Rabri’s jungle raj or Modi-Nitish’s vikas raj—the people will decide on November 6,” he said, referring to the first phase of polling.
He cited corruption scandals such as the fodder scam, IRCTC scam, and land-for-jobs case as examples of what he called the RJD’s misrule, contrasting them with what he described as the Modi government’s “corruption-free administration.”
Shah also highlighted national security achievements, saying, “The Modi government revoked Article 370 from Kashmir and acted decisively against terrorism, while the Congress was busy feeding biryani to terrorists.”
The Union Minister praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, crediting him with ending jungle raj in 2005 and bringing good governance to Bihar. “If the NDA forms the government again, Bihar will once more move on the path of development,” he added.
In his address, Shah announced that Munger would soon be connected to the national aviation network under the UDAN scheme, allowing affordable flights to Delhi for around Rs 2,500. He also outlined plans to link Munger to the Ramayana Circuit, noting that after the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, work is underway on the Janaki Temple in Bihar, at an estimated cost of Rs 850 crore. Development projects at Kashtharani Ghat, Sita Charan, and Sita Kund are also planned, he said.
Concluding his speech, Shah made the thousands gathered at the rally take a collective pledge to ensure victory for NDA candidates, assuring them that “a government of development and good governance will once again be formed in Bihar.”
