Dehri: Union home minister Amit Shah has sharpened the NDA’s pitch for the Bihar Assembly elections, telling party workers in Dehri, that the contest is not just about forming a government but about securing a two-thirds majority under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing selected BJP workers from 10 districts, Shah called on the alliance to win 80% of the seats in the Shahabad region. “The future of Bihar is tied to PM Modi’s leadership, and this goal must be achieved at all costs,” he told the gathering.

Praising chief minister Nitish Kumar, Shah said the NDA had given Bihar a “new direction of development,” while launching a sharp attack on Congress and RJD. He dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra as “merely a show,” and added: “Lalu cannot match Nitish Kumar even if he remains chief minister for a lifetime.”
Highlighting what he described as the BJP’s internal democracy, Shah said: “While other parties win elections through leaders, in the BJP, it is the workers who win. In our party, even a booth president can become the national president.”
He urged workers to take the achievements of the PM Modi and CM Nitish governments to every household, arguing that a stronger BJP would mean a stronger NDA and a more prosperous Bihar. His comments signal that the party is preparing to contest the elections not from a position of compromise but with the aim of forming a government with a commanding majority.
