Araria/Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a fiery address to BJP workers in Araria on Saturday, declaring that the NDA must secure more than 160 seats in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections to return to power with a decisive mandate.
Shah, who met mandal-level workers from Koshi, Purnia and Bhagalpur, urged them to “turn every booth into a bastion” for the party, promising that a two-thirds majority would not only ensure development but also give the BJP the strength to expel “every infiltrator from Bihar.”
“For Lalu Prasad and Rahul Gandhi, this election is about family and power. For us, it is about driving out infiltrators and putting Bihar on the path of progress,” Shah said, accusing the opposition of shielding outsiders while ignoring the state’s poor and marginalised communities.

He sought to energise the cadre by promising “four Diwalis” this year — the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya, cash transfers to Jeevika Didis, GST reforms reducing prices on hundreds of items, and finally, the NDA’s electoral victory in Bihar.
The home minister also contrasted what he called the NDA’s record of development under Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar with the “jungle raj” of Lalu Prasad. He highlighted central government initiatives in Bihar, including new airports, the Kosi-Mechi link project and cash transfers to farmers and women.

Shah’s speech, laced with repeated attacks on the opposition, underlined two themes: a sharp communal pitch around “infiltrators” and a bold numerical target of 160 seats for the NDA.
Party insiders said the address was aimed at consolidating the BJP’s organisational strength in north Bihar, where the NDA is looking to blunt the influence of the RJD-led Grand Alliance.
