Patna: Indian Railways will launch a new weekly express service between Anand Vihar in Delhi and Purulia in West Bengal from April 2, aiming to improve connectivity across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
The 14022/14021 Anand Vihar–Purulia–Anand Vihar Express will operate once a week, departing Anand Vihar every Thursday at 5am and leaving Purulia every Friday at 5pm. The train will run via Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Ayodhya Cantt and Varanasi before reaching Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (DDU) at 10.40pm, before continuing through key stations in Bihar and Jharkhand, including Sasaram, Dehri-on-Sone, Garhwa Road, Daltonganj, Barwadih, Latehar, Tori, Lohardaga, Ranchi and Muri.
On its return journey, the train will depart Purulia on April 3 and is scheduled to arrive in Anand Vihar at 11.10pm the following day.
Railway officials said the service has been introduced with passenger convenience in mind, adding that it will offer a direct long-distance option for travellers from eastern Uttar Pradesh and the adjoining states to the Delhi-NCR region. The rake will consist of 22 coaches, including one first AC coach, two second AC coaches, six third AC coaches, seven sleeper class coaches, four general coaches and two SLRD coaches.
