Patna: Anant Singh, the former MLA from Mokama, has been placed in judicial custody for 14 days at Patna’s Beur Jail in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case. Arrested at midnight on Saturday, Singh was sent to jail the following day under special security, though meetings with him have been prohibited.
A jail official, speaking on condition of anonymity, clarified that Singh does not qualify as a high-class prisoner under the jail manual and will therefore not receive privileges typically afforded to such inmates. “As a former MLA, he will be provided facilities in accordance with government regulations, without any special treatment,” the official added.
Singh has been assigned two attendants to assist with daily tasks, including cooking. On Sunday evening, his dinner consisted of vegetables and roti, in line with the standard provisions for high-ranking prisoners. His routine began with tea on Monday morning, followed by a medical examination, which confirmed that his blood pressure, blood sugar, and pulse were normal.
