Ara: Passengers in Bihar have received good news from the Railways. From 12 September 2025, four important trains will now start from Ara instead of Patna. This includes the Kolkata–Patna–Ara Garib Rath Express, which is one of the most popular trains connecting Bihar with Kolkata. The decision has been taken to reduce the pressure on Patna Junction and make travel easier for passengers of Bhojpur district and nearby areas.
The Jaynagar–Danapur–Ara Intercity Express will now run between Ara and Jaynagar, making it convenient for passengers travelling from North Bihar. Along with this, the Garib Rath Express will now go up to Ara, giving passengers a direct option to travel to Kolkata. The Ara–Rajendra Nagar–New Jalpaiguri Express and the Ara–Rajendra Nagar–Kamakhya Capital Express have also been given a new starting point from Ara, which will save passengers the trouble of travelling to Patna first.
The benefits are not limited to Ara. Saharsa passengers will now have better train services as the Narpatganj–Saharsa–Amritsar Jansadharan Express and the Ahmedabad–Barauni–Saharsa Express have been extended. The Bengaluru–Patna train will now go up to Saharsa, making long-distance travel from the Koshi region much easier.
Similarly, Supaul will now have a direct connection to Pune as the Supaul–Danapur–Pune Superfast Express has been extended. The Danapur–Rajgir–Koderma Express has also been extended to improve connectivity. These steps are expected to help passengers from North and Seemanchal regions of Bihar and reduce the heavy rush at Patna Junction.
With these changes, Ara is now becoming an important railway hub. Passengers will save time, avoid unnecessary travel to Patna, and get direct trains for long-distance destinations. This move by the Railways is being seen as a big gift for the people of Bhojpur, Saharsa, Supaul and nearby districts.
