Patna: The Bihar government is preparing to inaugurate three major projects in September — Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) headquarters in Bihta, and Bihar Animal Science University — in what officials describe as a significant step towards strengthening science education, disaster management and veterinary research.
The SDRF headquarters, built on 25 acres in Dilawarpur, Bihta at a cost of Rs 287.52 crore, includes an administrative building, training block, residential quarters, and a quartermaster store. A modern swimming pool designed for disaster response training is also under construction. Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi, said the remaining work is being fast-tracked to ensure the facility is inaugurated on schedule.

At Bihar Animal Science University, 14 new buildings have been completed, including a dairy engineering block, animal laboratory, feed analysis lab, administrative offices and modern hostels for students. Green building features have been integrated into the design, and a 1,200-seat auditorium is under construction.
Meanwhile, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City, being developed on 20.5 acres near Patna’s Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, will house five galleries featuring 269 science exhibits. In the first phase, 47 exhibits have been installed in the Basic Science and BA Scientists galleries. Officials say the project is aimed at fostering scientific curiosity among young people while providing a vital educational resource for the state.
