Ara/Patna: Railway authorities have suspended the operation of the Ara–Varanasi MEMU trains for 100 days due to ongoing operational and infrastructure-related work in the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Railway Division.
An official notification issued by the railways confirmed the cancellation of Train No. 63229 (Ara–Varanasi MEMU) and Train No. 63230 (Varanasi–Ara MEMU) for the specified period.
According to the railway administration, the decision has been taken to facilitate the safe and timely execution of technical and development works on the section.
Daily commuters likely to be affected
The Ara–Varanasi MEMU is widely used by daily commuters, including office-goers, students, small traders and other regular passengers travelling between the two cities.
The suspension is expected to affect thousands of passengers who rely on the service for daily travel. Many may now have to use alternative trains or other modes of transport during the cancellation period.
Railways advise passengers to check updates
Railway officials have urged passengers to verify the latest operational status of trains before planning their journeys.
Travellers have been advised to use the official railway website, the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and railway helpline services for updated information. The administration has also recommended making travel arrangements through alternative train services available on the route.
Services to resume after completion of works
Railway authorities said the MEMU services will resume once the infrastructure and operational works are completed.
Officials maintained that the ongoing projects are aimed at improving safety, operational efficiency and passenger convenience in the long term.
Concerns among passengers
Following the notification, the decision has become a subject of discussion among passengers travelling on the Ara, Buxar and Varanasi route.
Some regular commuters have expressed concern over the availability of suitable alternatives during the 100-day suspension period.
