Aurangabad/Patna : The proposed medical college and hospital in Aurangabad has moved a step closer to construction after 20 acres of land became available for the project.
The development is significant because the project had remained stalled over the availability of land. The administration has now made 20 acres available, allowing the process for taking the project forward to begin.
A total of 33.77 acres of land has been identified as required for the proposed medical college and hospital. The project has already received administrative approval.
Rs 400.29 Crore Project With 430-Bed Hospital
The proposed medical college and hospital is estimated to cost around Rs 400.29 crore.
The hospital is planned with 430 beds, while the medical college will have 100 MBBS seats.
The project is expected to include the infrastructure required for medical education and patient care, including the college campus, hospital building, laboratories, hostels, residential facilities for doctors and an administrative building.
Patients Could Get Advanced Treatment Locally
The proposed hospital is expected to strengthen healthcare facilities in Aurangabad and surrounding areas.
At present, patients requiring treatment for serious or complex medical conditions are often referred to larger medical centres in Gaya, Patna and other cities.
A 430-bed hospital with specialist treatment, diagnostic and medical facilities could reduce the need for patients to travel outside the district for certain forms of treatment.
The medical college would also provide MBBS students with opportunities for practical clinical training through the associated hospital.
Medical College Could Create Healthcare Jobs
The project is expected to require doctors, teaching staff, nurses, technical personnel and other healthcare workers once operational.
The development could therefore strengthen the availability of trained healthcare professionals in the district while creating employment opportunities in the medical and allied sectors.
Construction and the eventual operation of the college and hospital could also generate direct and indirect economic activity in the surrounding area.
Construction Process to Move to Next Stage
With land now available, the next major steps will involve completing the administrative and construction-related procedures.
These are expected to include the tendering process, selection of a construction agency and other necessary approvals and formalities before physical construction can begin.
The availability of 20 acres is therefore an important step, but the entire 33.77-acre land requirement and subsequent construction processes will still need to be addressed.
MLA and District Administration Welcome Progress
Aurangabad MLA Trivikram Narayan Singh said efforts had been continuing to move the medical college project forward and that work would now focus on starting construction as soon as possible.
District Magistrate Abhilasha Sharma confirmed that land had been made available for the medical college.
She said the lack of land had earlier prevented the construction process from moving forward.
With the latest land allocation, the administration expects the project to progress towards its next stage.
