Muzaffarpur: In a dramatic incident in Muzaffarpur an auto driver attempted to speed past a railway crossing as the Bagh Express approached, crashing into and breaking the boom barrier. The incident occurred around 10:30 am on June 25, leading to a major traffic jam that lasted for approximately two and a half hours.
The auto driver, in a bid to beat the closing gate at the Sherpur crossing, collided with the barrier, causing it to break and jam. As a result, vehicles and commuters were stranded, with traffic diverted through alternative routes including Neem Chowk, Narayanpur and Dighra.
Railway Protection Force officials responded promptly, seizing the auto and registering a case against its owner. According to authorities, the gateman immediately informed the control room after the barrier was damaged, following which a slider gate was installed to secure the crossing.
