Patna: The central government has approved a Rs 39 crore project to build digital planetariums and space education centres in three districts of Bihar — East Champaran, Jamui, and Purnia. These centres will help school and college students learn more about space, planets, and science in an exciting and modern way.
The project will be built under the Central Ministry of Culture’s Scheme for Promotion of Culture and Science (SPOCS). Out of the total Rs 39 crore, the Bihar government will give Rs 22.20 crore, and the rest will come from the central government. The National Council of Science Museums, which handles science museums across the country, will carry out the project.
Right now, Bihar has two planetariums — one in Patna and one in Darbhanga. Both places show 2D and 3D films about space and science. They also have virtual reality shows, science exhibits, and fun activities for children. The new planetariums in Champaran, Jamui, and Purnia will offer similar facilities.
These centres will allow students and the general public to book tickets online and attend shows in different time slots. Officials say this project will make science more interesting for children and help Bihar move ahead in the field of science and technology.
