DARBHANGA – In a significant development for the Indian Railways, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two Amrit Bharat Express trains on December 30. The announcement was made by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday (December 25), highlighting the technological advancements and unique features of these trains.

The Amrit Bharat train, a successor to the Vande Bharat Express, boasts improved acceleration attributed to push-pull technology, featuring two engines. This design facilitates quicker acceleration and deceleration, optimizing travel time on turns, bridges, and stations along the route. The integration of semi-permanent couplers ensures a smoother and jerk-free ride for passengers.

One distinctive feature of the Amrit Bharat Express is its fully covered vestibules, enhancing stability during the journey. The train’s toilets are designed to minimize water usage, aligning with eco-friendly practices.

The inaugural route for the first Amrit Bharat Express is expected to stretch from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to Darbhanga in Bihar. The second train is slated to operate on the Bengaluru to Malda route in South India.

Minister Vaishnaw emphasized that both the Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express trains incorporate cutting-edge technologies, proudly made in India under the Make in India program.

The Railway Minister revealed that the initial two Amrit Bharat Express trains are non-air conditioned, offering comfort to passengers with cushioned luggage berths. Each seat is equipped with charging points, and a specially designed ramp facilitates easy access for wheelchairs into the coaches. The engine features innovative technology, resembling that of the Vande Bharat train.

The Amrit Bharat Express will consist of a total of 22 coaches, including 8 general second-class coaches, 12 second-class 3-tier sleeper coaches, and 2 guard compartments for unreserved passengers. These trains are manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, contributing to India’s vision of self-reliance in rail technology.

The inauguration on December 30 marks a significant milestone in the nation’s railway infrastructure development.
