The review focused on the progress of the greenfield mega bridge being constructed over the Ganga between Bakhtiyarpur (NH-31) and Tajpur (NH-28), with a remaining project cost of Rs 1,822.23 crore.
Work Progress Near Targets
Officials said construction is broadly on track with targets set for March and April 2026.
- In March, 39 segments were cast against a target of 40
- By the third week of April, 26 segments had been completed against a target of 29
- Segment erection using launching girders is also in progress
The executing agency has set a target of casting 40 segments per month for the remaining 438 segments, with work up to Pier P-29 expected to be completed by May 2027.
Push For Faster Execution

Amrit directed officials to increase resources at the site, including adding more casting equipment, to speed up work on key sections of the bridge.
He also stressed the need to maintain a consistent pace of construction, except during the monsoon, to avoid delays.
Weekly Monitoring And Quality Focus
The chief secretary instructed departments to review progress on a weekly basis and resolve technical bottlenecks without delay.
He emphasised that the bridge is a critical infrastructure link and that there should be no compromise on construction quality or the completion deadline.
Officials said the project is expected to significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time between regions once completed.
