Patna: A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death at Barh railway station in Bihar late on Thursday night, sparking allegations of negligence against the railway police after the suspect managed to escape.
The incident occurred at around 11.30pm near the old Railway Protection Force (RPF) barracks on Platform 1. Eyewitnesses said an argument broke out between two groups of men who had been smoking cannabis on the platform. During the altercation, a man identified as Raju – also known locally as “Langda”, meaning “lame” in Hindi, and described by residents as disabled with both legs amputated – allegedly attacked Bhonu Pal with a knife.
Pal sustained critical injuries and later died in hospital. Another man, named as Ganesh Pal, was seriously hurt while trying to intervene but was discharged after treatment.
Witnesses claim that although the injured men alerted railway police immediately after the incident, officers were slow to respond, allowing the suspect to flee. The delay has prompted accusations of negligence, with locals saying the murder has created fear in the area.
The case has been reported to senior officials of the railway police and security forces. A forensic team has been called in, though it had not arrived at the scene by Friday morning. Police said they are investigating but have made no arrests so far.
