Patna: The government of Bihar has signed a significant agreement with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to strengthen skill development and create more job opportunities for young people. The memorandum of understanding was signed in Patna between the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) and NSDC. Officials described the agreement as an important step towards making the youth of the state more skilled, self-reliant and employable.
Under this partnership, the focus will not only be on providing training but also on connecting that training directly with employment and entrepreneurship. The agreement includes plans to set up modern skill training centres, expand NSDC Academy programmes and introduce industry-focused courses. The aim is to ensure that young people receive practical and up-to-date training that matches current market needs, both within India and abroad.
The partnership will also encourage micro-entrepreneurship so that young people can start their own small businesses instead of only looking for jobs. Skill training will be expanded to the panchayat level to make it accessible in rural areas. At the same time, advanced and future-oriented courses will be launched for graduate and postgraduate students. Special attention will be given to sectors such as tourism, construction and artificial intelligence, which are seen as having strong growth potential.
In tourism, local youth will be trained in guiding services, hospitality and cultural activities. In construction, training will focus on modern building technology and green infrastructure. Artificial intelligence-based programmes will prepare students for careers in the digital economy. The government believes that this agreement will also attract private investment and improve the quality of training by aligning it with national and international standards.
The state has set an ambitious target of creating 10 million jobs over the next five years. Officials said the collaboration between BSDM and NSDC will play a key role in achieving this goal and in strengthening Bihar’s economic growth. Senior officials from both organisations attended the signing ceremony and expressed confidence that the initiative would open new opportunities for the state’s youth and help Bihar emerge as a leading state in skill-based development.
