Bhagalpur: A wanted criminal with a Rs 25,000 bounty on his head has been arrested in Bhagalpur’s Navgachiya subdivision following a major police operation. Rishabh Chaudhary, who was included in the district’s top 10 most wanted list, was apprehended from Balha village in the Kharik police station area.
According to the sub-divisional police officer Omprakash, Rishabh had been evading arrest for a long time and was the subject of a dedicated police task force. He faces over six serious criminal cases, including charges of murder, armed robbery, extortion, and assaulting police personnel.
Police said that Rishabh and his accomplices had previously fired shots near local shops to instil fear and demand extortion. One co-accused, Prince Kumar, was earlier arrested in the same case. Authorities believe this latest arrest will significantly reduce criminal incidents in the area.
Rishabh has been jailed multiple times in the past and remained a persistent threat to public safety until his arrest this week.
