Bhagalpur: The wait for advanced treatment in Bhagalpur is finally over. From Sunday, the new Super Specialty Hospital will start admitting patients in five departments – neuro surgery, cardiology, uro surgery, nephrology and plastic surgery. Until now, only OPD services were available here, but now serious patients can also get admitted and treated.
At present, only 70 patients will be admitted because of limited resources. Officials said that as facilities and staff increase, more patients will get a chance for treatment. On Saturday, Principal Dr Hemshankar Sharma, Superintendent Dr Avilesh Kumar, Deputy Superintendent Dr Ajay Kumar and Nodal Officer Dr Mahesh Kumar informed about this in a press conference. The admission process will start at 11.30 am on Sunday.
The hospital is starting a 10-bed ICU and a 10-bed emergency service for serious patients. However, there is still a shortage of doctors. Right now, only patients of the five mentioned departments will get treatment here. Other patients will continue to get treatment in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital. The Divisional Commissioner has helped in solving the problems to start this service on time.
Modern operation theatres have been built for surgeries. Neurosurgery operations will be done twice a week while plastic surgery will be done once a week. In the nephrology department, kidney stones will be removed with the help of machines. Officials said there are only 11 doctors against the required 353 posts, but they hope that soon more doctors and staff will join so that the hospital can run in full capacity and help more patients in Bhagalpur.
