Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena today emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to controlling criminal activities and strengthening law and order across Bihar. During a comprehensive review meeting held at the old secretariat on Tuesday, Meena issued stringent directives to District Magistrates (DMs) and various departments, including Home and Police.
The Chief Secretary underscored the urgent need for a robust and intensive vehicle checking campaign throughout the state, slated to commence from August 1. He instructed all DMs, connected via video conferencing, to collaborate with their respective SSPs or SPs to formulate precise action plans for this initiative. As a part of this drive, permanent check posts are to be established at critical locations in all districts, and compulsory camera installations at public places with high footfall are mandated. The DMs of Nawada and Sheohar also presented their action plans during the meeting.
Focus on Public Safety and Judicial Efficiency
Chief Secretary Meena further directed that regular vehicle checks be conducted on major state roads to ensure public safety. He also emphasized the continuous review of Public Prosecutor (PP) performance by DMs to facilitate swift punishment for culprits. Additionally, a special drive will be launched in districts to seize two-wheelers from riders not wearing helmets.
Beyond law enforcement, the Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of other key departments. He stressed the effective and systematic completion of ration card distribution under the Public Distribution System and commended the exemplary work in Anganwadi services.
Departmental Review and Attendance
The extensive review meeting covered the departmental works of Mines and Geology, Revenue and Land Reforms, Transport, Home, Sports, General Administration, and Prohibition, Excise and Registration, alongside the Dr. Ambedkar Samagra Seva Abhiyan. Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, participated via video conferencing, while Secretary of Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Jai Singh, and Director of Information and Public Relations Department, Vaibhav Srivastava, were among those present.
Chief Secretary Meena conducted a detailed assessment of each department’s progress and provided necessary guidelines for future actions, with Divisional Commissioners and all District Magistrates connected through video conferencing to the concerned Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries.
