Patna: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann visited Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib in Patna Sahib on Monday afternoon along with his family members, where he paid obeisance and offered prayers for peace and brotherhood across the country.
During his visit to the Sikh shrine, regarded as the second-largest Takht in Sikhism, the Chief Minister sat with his family in the Darbar Sahib and listened to Shabad Kirtan. He also partook in the Langar and toured various sections of the Gurudwara complex, including sites and artefacts of religious significance.
Prayers for Harmony and Welfare
Interacting with journalists during the visit, Mann said he experienced a deep sense of peace and spiritual solace at the shrine.
“I consider myself fortunate to have received the opportunity to visit Takht Sahib and pay my obeisance. I have offered Ardas for the preservation of peace and brotherhood across the country and the world,” he said.
The Punjab Chief Minister also paid respects at the Jora Sahib and described the birthplace of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, as a symbol of resistance against oppression and a message of harmony and welfare for humanity.
He later walked around the shrine premises and inspected the surrounding complex.
Honoured Inside Darbar Sahib
Inside the Darbar Sahib, Mann was honoured with a Siropa by a Granthi of the Takht Sahib.
Following this, he also visited and paid respects at Bal Leela Gurudwara and Guru Ka Bagh Gurudwara.
Members of the Gurudwara Management Committee, including President Jagjot Singh Sohi, General Secretary Inderjit Singh, Vice President Gurvinder Singh, and spokesperson Sudeep Singh, welcomed the Chief Minister during the visit.
Security Arrangements Tightened
Security arrangements in and around Patna Sahib were heightened ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival. Police personnel were deployed at key locations across the area.
Upon arriving at Patna Airport, Mann was formally received by representatives of the Gurudwara Management Committee.
