Patna: The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has reclaimed 87.36 acres of unused industrial land from 45 entrepreneurs, marking a significant step in the state’s efforts to unlock idle industrial assets and attract fresh investment.

The Industries Department on Friday handed over cheques worth Rs 25.097 crore as the first instalment of compensation to the affected entrepreneurs. The amount represents 40% of the total compensation payable under the state’s exit policy.

Land To Be Reallocated To New Investors

BIADA said the reclaimed land would now be allotted to new investors whose project proposals have already been approved.

The authority said the move is intended to ensure that industrial plots remain productive and contribute to the state’s manufacturing and economic growth.

Exit Policies Facilitate Land Recovery

Under the BIADA Exit Policy-2025, the authority reclaimed 85.90 acres of land from 44 entrepreneurs, paying a first instalment of Rs 22.283 crore in compensation.

Separately, under the Exit Policy-2023, 1.46 acres of land were reclaimed from one entrepreneur, who received Rs 2.813 crore as the first instalment.

According to the Industries Department, the total area expected to be reclaimed under the exit policy exceeds 95 acres.

State Eyes Rs 1,200 Crore Investment

The department estimates that the reclaimed land could attract more than Rs 1,200 crore in fresh investment and generate employment for over 1,000 people.

Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh said the objective of the BIADA Exit Policy is to bring unused industrial land back into productive use, creating opportunities for new investors while accelerating Bihar’s industrial development.

New Land Allocation Policy Released

During the event, the minister also unveiled the BIADA Land Allocation and Management Policy (Amended)-2026.

According to the Industries Department, the revised policy is designed to make the allocation and management of industrial plots more transparent, streamlined, time-bound and investor-friendly, with the aim of improving the ease of doing business in Bihar.
