Patna: Bihar’s NDA-led government has unveiled a major recruitment drive, creating employment opportunities for youth and ex-servicemen while enhancing honoraria for the state’s Special Armed Police (SAP). A total of 17,000 positions will be filled in the SAP for the year 2026–27, including posts specifically reserved for retired Indian Army personnel and ex-members of Central Armed Police Forces.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary highlighted the move on X, noting that an additional 436 posts across various government departments will also be filled to improve administrative efficiency. “This initiative is aimed at addressing vacancies in government services and streamlining operations. It will not only enhance the state’s security system but also provide former servicemen a chance to reintegrate into mainstream employment,” he said.

Alongside the recruitment drive, the government has implemented an immediate increase in SAP salaries. Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) will now receive Rs 35,000 per month, up from Rs 23,800, while SAP constables’ pay rises to Rs 30,000 from Rs 19,800. Cooks serving in the SAP will see their honorarium increase from Rs 15,100 to Rs 25,000.
The government said these measures aim to improve the financial well-being of security personnel while ensuring law and order is maintained across the state.
