Patna: The Bihar education department has decided to reopen the teacher recruitment process for Saraswati Vidya Niketan, also known as Adarsh Schools, after a large number of teaching positions remained vacant following the initial round of selection.
The move is aimed at filling vacancies before the start of the new academic session and ensuring that classroom teaching is not affected by staff shortages.
Review Finds Shortfall in Appointments
According to the education department, a high-level review meeting held on May 27 examined the staffing position in Adarsh Schools across the state.
Officials found that several districts were unable to appoint the required number of qualified candidates against sanctioned posts. As a result, many schools continue to face a shortage of teachers.
Following the review, the department issued directions to district authorities to expedite the recruitment process and fill the remaining vacancies.
Linked to ‘Saat Nischay-3’ Programme
The Adarsh Schools have been established under the state government’s Saat Nischay-3 programme, which seeks to improve access to quality and modern education in both rural and urban areas.
Officials said the government aims to ensure adequate staffing in these schools so that students receive regular and effective instruction.
Fresh Applications to Be Invited
In a letter issued by Secondary Education Director Sajjan R, the department stated that fresh applications would be invited for posts where the required number of teachers could not be selected earlier.
District-level selection committees have been directed to complete the recruitment process in a transparent manner and in accordance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
The department has also asked districts to avoid delays and complete appointments within the stipulated timeline.
Recruitment Schedule
The education department has released the following schedule for the fresh recruitment round:
| Activity | Dates |
| Application submission | June 1–4 |
| Scrutiny and verification of applications | June 5–7 |
| Interviews | June 8–12 |
| Publication of final merit list | By June 13 |
Opportunity for Aspirants
The fresh recruitment drive is expected to benefit candidates who were unable to apply or participate in the earlier selection process.
Officials said the initiative is intended to address teacher shortages in Adarsh Schools while creating employment opportunities for eligible candidates across the state.
The education department has stated that selections will be made strictly on the basis of merit and existing recruitment rules.
