Patna: The Revenue and Land Reforms Department of Bihar organised a one-day workshop on the use of artificial intelligence in revenue administration at the Old Secretariat in Patna on Saturday. The programme brought together Land Reforms Deputy Collectors (DCLRs) from across the state along with data entry operators to train them in using modern digital tools for government work.
The workshop focused on improving the speed, transparency and efficiency of revenue services through the use of technology. Officials said that integrating artificial intelligence into administrative processes could help reduce delays and improve the handling of land-related cases.
Speaking at the event, deputy chief minister and revenue and land reforms minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said the state government is working to modernise revenue administration by adopting new technologies. According to him, artificial intelligence can help speed up the disposal of mutation appeals and cases under the Bihar Land Disputes Resolution Act, ensuring that citizens receive decisions in a timely manner.
Senior officials including secretaries Gopal Meena and Jai Singh highlighted the growing importance of technology in government functioning. They said that effective use of digital systems could not only improve efficiency but also help provide public services within fixed timelines.
Discussions during the workshop also focused on ensuring timely hearings in cases related to mutation appeals and the BLDR Act. Officials were advised to streamline hearing procedures and maintain transparency in order to clear pending cases more quickly.
Cybersecurity experts also addressed participants and spoke about the importance of secure digital practices while using AI-based systems. They warned that as government departments rely more on digital platforms, protecting official data from cyber threats becomes increasingly important.
The workshop concluded with officials emphasising that the integration of technology into revenue administration will make the system more efficient and citizen-focused. Senior officers including Suharsh Bhagat, Ajeev Vatsraj, Mona Jha, Mani Bhushan Kishor, Sudha Rani, Soni Kumari, Nawazish Akhtar, Sunil Kumar Singh and IT manager Anand Shankar also briefed participants on administrative and technological steps aimed at improving the efficiency of revenue services.
