Patna: Bihar government has moved forward with plans to expand air connectivity by approving a detailed survey for Bhagalpur Greenfield Airport and five other airports across the state. The Cabinet Secretariat has sanctioned Rs 2,90,91,720, including GST, to identify obstacles such as tall buildings, towers, and electric poles that could affect safe flight operations.
The Airports Authority of India will conduct the survey under the Bihar Airport (Amendment) Rules, 2024. The findings will help finalise height limits, remove obstructions, and adjust the master plan for construction. Officials said the move will ensure smooth operations of larger aircraft once development begins.
District authorities have also imposed a ban on the purchase and sale of nearly 1,055 acres of land across villages in Sultanganj to prevent unregulated transactions before acquisition. Technical preparations for construction are expected to begin once the survey is completed, with senior officials in Patna pressing for accelerated progress.
