Patna: Bihar is set to open a regional office of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to enhance its agricultural exports and improve the economic conditions of local farmers.
Industry Minister Nitish Mishra announced that the upcoming office will connect Bihar’s diverse agricultural produce to the global market. He said the APEDA office would be a crucial step for farmers and local producers, as it will facilitate the export of fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products while opening up new opportunities for income generation.
Bihar is known for its rich agricultural tradition and diverse crops. Major food processing exports from the state include makhana, maize, meat, rice husk, wheat, rice, sugarcane and its products, cattle feed supplements, oils obtained from animals, cereal powder prepared for infant food, and other miscellaneous products.
The minister thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan for supporting the initiative, stating that it would further strengthen Bihar’s presence in the global market.
