Expansion of AYUSH Facilities
In a parallel development, the state is preparing to expand access to traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and Yoga, under the AYUSH framework.
The central government has approved new 50-bed AYUSH hospitals in Begusarai, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Siwan, Gopalganj, East Champaran and Gaya districts. Officials said the facilities are intended to reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities for treatment and improve access in rural areas.
In addition, smaller 10-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals are planned for Araria, Banka and Madhubani, aimed at providing primary care for minor ailments.
Health department officials said the expansion is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to low-cost treatment options. The initiative is also projected to generate additional employment for medical staff and practitioners in the state.
