Patna: The electoral landscape for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections has been finalized, with the Election Commission announcing that 1,375 candidates will contest for seats across 121 assembly constituencies spanning 18 districts.
Of the confirmed candidates, 1,248 are male and 127 are female, highlighting the representation ratio in the initial round of polling.
Nomination Review and Key Deadlines
The scrutiny of nomination papers for the first phase concluded with 2,009 nominations being accepted out of a total of 2,496 applications filed. This followed the rejection of 487 nomination papers during the review process.
Monday marks a double deadline that is crucial for the ongoing election cycle:
- It is the final date for the withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of the elections.
- It is also the last date for candidates to file their nominations for the second phase.
Phase 2 Preparations Underway
The second phase of the elections will encompass 122 assembly constituencies across 20 districts. So far, 1,066 nomination papers have been filed for this phase.
