
Patna: The last session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly before the 2025 elections will be held from July 21 to 25, according to a notification issued by Assembly Secretary-in-Charge Khyati Singh on Friday. The monsoon session, expected to be politically significant in the run-up to the polls, will span five working days, with proceedings scheduled in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council.
The session will begin with the tabling of the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2025–26 on July 21. Government bills and other official business will be taken up over the next two days, on July 22 and 23. July 24 will be dedicated to the discussion of the supplementary expenditure statement, followed by the government’s reply and the presentation of the appropriation bill. The session will conclude on July 25 with the presentation of non-government resolutions.
In the Legislative Council, non-official resolutions will be discussed on July 22. Government bills will follow on July 23 and 24, with discussion on the supplementary expenditure statement and the related appropriation bill set for July 25.
This will be the final sitting of the current Assembly, whose term ends on November 22. With that in view, assembly elections are likely to be held in October and November. If the pattern of the 2020 elections is followed, voting may take place in two to three phases. In 2020, the elections were held between October 28 and November 7 in three phases, with results declared on November 10.
