Patna: Bihar is set to host a wide range of international and national sporting events during the 2026-27 season, with competitions scheduled from July 2026 to March 2027, according to the calendar released by the Bihar State Sports Authority.
The schedule includes the India-New Zealand Friendship Centenary rugby match, the FIH Hockey Pro League, the inaugural Bihar Men’s Kabaddi League, and a new Beach Games Carnival along the banks of the Ganges.
International Events Scheduled in Rajgir
Rajgir will host two of the state’s marquee international events during the season. The India-New Zealand Friendship Centenary rugby match is scheduled from October 24 to 31.
The city will also host matches of the FIH Hockey Pro League, further strengthening Bihar’s position as a venue for international sporting competitions.
Patna to Host Kabaddi League and NIDJAM
Patna will stage the first-ever Bihar Men’s Kabaddi League at the Patliputra Sports Complex from January 28 to February 5.
The capital is also scheduled to host NIDJAM as part of the annual sports calendar. In addition, the state’s sports awards ceremony will be held in Patna on August 29 to recognise outstanding sporting achievements.
Beach Games Carnival Along the Ganges
A Beach Games Carnival will be organised along the banks of the Ganges from January 16 to 18, introducing a new sporting attraction to Bihar’s annual calendar.
Traditional wrestling, or Dangal, is also scheduled for November 27 and 28 as part of the state’s sporting programme.
Women’s Kabaddi League in March
The third edition of the Women’s Kabaddi League will be held in March 2027, continuing Bihar’s efforts to promote competitive opportunities for women athletes.
According to the Bihar State Sports Authority, the year-long calendar aims to keep sports venues active across the state while providing athletes with opportunities to compete in national and international events.
