Patna: Bihar produced a commanding performance to defeat Manipur by 569 runs in the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 Plate Group final, securing the title in emphatic fashion at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. The hosts combined heavy scoring with tight, controlled bowling to register one of the largest winning margins of the season.
After electing to bat, Bihar laid the foundation with a formidable first-innings total of 522, putting immediate pressure on their opponents. The dominance continued in the second innings as they declared at 505 for six, stretching their overall lead to a daunting 763 runs and effectively placing the contest beyond Manipur’s reach.
Manipur struggled to cope with the mounting target. Despite brief resistance, they were bowled out for 264 in the first innings and 195 in the second, unable to withstand Bihar’s disciplined attack. The bowlers maintained consistent lines and lengths, ensuring there was little opportunity for recovery as wickets fell at regular intervals.
The standout performance came from Piyush Kumar Singh, whose unbeaten 216 in the second innings proved decisive. His aggressive yet composed knock dismantled Manipur’s bowling plans and accelerated Bihar’s advantage. Khalid added a valuable 81, while Raghuvendra Pratap’s unbeaten 90 further consolidated the team’s control.
Captain Shakibul Gani was named player of the match for his leadership and all-round contribution, guiding the side with tactical clarity throughout the final. Supported by team manager Nandan Kumar, Bihar executed their plans efficiently to cap off a memorable campaign and lift the Plate Group trophy in front of home supporters.
