Patna: The Bihar government has started a large construction project to build more than 200 new block-cum-circle office buildings across the state. These new offices will replace old and damaged buildings and provide better facilities for both government staff and the general public. The aim is to improve local administration and make government services easier to access for people in towns and villages. Construction has already begun in several districts, and the remaining projects will start soon.
The Building Construction Department is responsible for this work. According to department secretary Kumar Ravi, new office buildings will be constructed in 240 blocks, and office buildings with residential complexes will be built in 59 blocks. He said that the tender process for all remaining buildings has been completed, and work will start shortly. To maintain good quality, engineers, contractors and site supervisors have been specially trained. Although some places are facing land or site problems, the government is working to solve them quickly.
The state government has approved large funds for this project. For block-cum-circle offices with residential complexes, Rs 30,74,17,000 per block has been sanctioned. For replacing old office buildings with new ones, Rs 16,62,10,000 per block has been approved. Construction is currently going on in many districts, including 14 blocks in Gaya, 13 in Chhapra, 12 in Begusarai, 11 each in Bhagalpur and Motihari, and 10 each in Ara, Bettiah, Darbhanga, Madhubani and Purnea. More districts will be added soon.
The new office buildings will be two-storey structures with modern facilities. They will include offices for the Block Development Officer and Circle Officer, rooms for other staff, a conference hall, RTPS service counters, a canteen and a record room. To save electricity and support clean energy, solar panels will be installed on the rooftops. These new buildings are expected to greatly improve the working environment for staff and make government services faster and more comfortable for the people of Bihar.
