Patna: A review meeting of the Building Construction Department on Monday saw Minister Jayant Raj calling for immediate progress on schemes linked to announcements made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the Pragati Yatra.
Department Secretary Kumar Ravi provided updates on key projects, including the construction of a 620-capacity Atal Kala Bhawan in Kaimur, Buxar, Sheikhpura, Araria, Siwan, Arwal and Nawada, for which the tender process is under way. Sports infrastructure projects are planned across 14 districts, while 240 dilapidated block-cum-zonal offices and 60 building-less blocks are set to get new facilities.
Major updates included the Rajgir Cricket Stadium, with a seating capacity of 40,000, now in its final construction phase, and the Bihar Animal Science University, where several new buildings have been completed. The permanent SDRF structure in Bihta is nearing completion, and work on installing exhibits in two galleries at Patna’s Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City is expected to finish this month, ahead of its planned inauguration.
Jayant Raj instructed the department to start pending projects quickly and set a target to complete 1,000 Panchayat Government buildings by August-end. He also directed chief engineers to conduct thorough reviews of projects in their jurisdictions.
