Patna, September 23: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday approved 24 proposals covering education, animal husbandry, dairy development and industry.
Among the key decisions were approval for the establishment of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar University in Begusarai and Maa Sita Women’s University in Patna. The Cabinet also cleared the Chief Minister Go-Dhan Vikas Loan Scheme for livestock farmers, dairy development projects in the Kosi region and a new sugar mill in Nawada.
The Bihar government’s official e-Dashboard lists a dedicated section for Cabinet decisions and was updated on September 23.
Dinkar University To Come Up In Begusarai
The Cabinet approved the establishment of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar University in Begusarai on the birth anniversary of renowned Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
An administrative provision of Rs 15 crore has been made towards expenditure related to the salaries of officers and employees and other associated requirements for establishing the university.
The decision also connects the proposed university with Dinkar’s literary legacy, particularly his contribution to Hindi literature and ideas of national consciousness.
Maa Sita Women’s University Approved In Patna
The Cabinet also approved the establishment of Maa Sita Women’s University in Patna.
The decision provides for administrative expenditure related to the salaries and other requirements of officers and employees of the proposed university.
The move follows the state government’s earlier announcement of plans for a women’s university in Bihar. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary had said in August that the proposed institution would have women in its teaching, administrative and student bodies.
100% Interest Subsidy For Livestock Farmers
The Cabinet approved the Mukhyamantri Go-Dhan Vikas Rin Yojana for livestock farmers.
Under the scheme, the state government will provide a 100% subsidy on the interest component of bank loans taken by eligible beneficiaries. This means beneficiaries would be required to repay the principal amount while the interest burden would be covered through the subsidy mechanism.
More than Rs 1,600 crore has been approved for the scheme, according to the Cabinet decision details provided by the government.
Eight Dairy Projects Approved In Kosi Region
The Cabinet also approved eight projects for dairy development in the Kosi region.
The plans include the establishment of 500 new milk cooperative societies and expansion of dairy-related infrastructure. An estimated Rs 126.07 crore has been approved for these projects.
The initiative is aimed at expanding organised milk collection and dairy infrastructure in the region.
New Sugar Mill Approved In Nawada
The Cabinet also gave approval for the establishment of a new sugar mill at Warisaliganj in Nawada district.
The project involves a proposed investment of more than Rs 500 crore. According to the government, the facility is expected to provide processing and market support to sugarcane farmers in Nawada and neighbouring districts, including Nalanda, Sheikhpura and Jamui.
The proposal is also aimed at restarting sugar-industry activity in the Warisaliganj area.
Education, Livestock And Industry Among Key Areas
The latest Cabinet decisions span multiple sectors, with higher education, livestock farming, dairy infrastructure and agro-based industry featuring prominently.
The two proposed universities will add new institutions to Bihar’s higher-education landscape, while the Go-Dhan loan scheme and dairy projects focus on financial and infrastructure support for livestock-based livelihoods.
The sugar mill proposal in Nawada, meanwhile, links industrial investment with agricultural processing and the local sugarcane economy.
