Chhapra: Three people from the same family drowned while bathing in Chhapra, Bihar, on Monday. The accident happened near the Dighwara-Sherpur six-lane bridge construction site. The family members had gone to bathe but did not realise how deep the water was because of flooding near the bridge. When one person started drowning, the others tried to save him, but sadly, all three lost their lives. Their bodies have been found. The family is in deep sorrow as the victims included relatives who had come from Patna a day earlier for a child’s birthday celebration.
In another tragic incident in Patna, five teenagers went to bathe in the Ganga river in the Alamganj area on Monday during the holy month of Sawan. While bathing, they were swept away by the strong river current. People nearby saw them drowning and shouted for help.
SSB jawans stationed at the Ganga Ghat quickly started a rescue operation. They managed to save three of the teenagers and sent them to the hospital for treatment. However, two teenagers are still missing. Divers and rescue teams are searching for them but have not found them yet.
These incidents have left both areas in shock. Authorities have asked people not to bathe in rivers during monsoon floods as water levels are high and currents are dangerous.
