Patna: Bihar will host the All India Civil Services Sports Meet 2025–26 from 13 to 15 December, with more than 1,000 civil servants from across the country set to compete at Patna’s Patliputra Sports Complex. Organisers say the three-day event will highlight athletic excellence, sportsmanship and growing sporting culture within India’s civil services.
A total of 1,084 participants are registered for the event, including 702 male athletes, 328 female athletes and 54 officers. Teams from Haryana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka will take part, adding to the competitive depth and national character of the meet.
Major athletics events and veteran competitions
The meet will feature a full slate of athletics disciplines — including races, relays, shot put, discus throw, javelin, high jump, hammer throw and pole vault. Special categories for veteran athletes aged 40 to 60 will run alongside the main competition, bringing together both emerging and experienced competitors.
Officials said the Patliputra Sports Complex, equipped with a synthetic track, modern throwing arena, gymnasium and structured training facilities, is fully prepared to host the national event.
Bihar’s growing presence in Indian athletics
In recent years, Bihar has made significant strides in sports development, aided by government initiatives to strengthen infrastructure, activate district-level academies, expand talent identification programmes and provide incentives for young athletes. These efforts have helped nurture athletes who are now competing nationally, contributing to the state’s growing reputation in athletics.
Hosting national competitions, state officials said, will not only inspire young talent but also boost sports tourism and expand training opportunities across Bihar.
Organisers assure world-class arrangements
The event is being overseen by a steering committee led by Pranav Kumar, organising secretary from the Department of Art, Culture and Youth. Shirsat Kapil Ashok, Managing Director of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation, is coordinating arrangements as secretary-cum-nodal officer (athletics). Under their supervision, organisers say preparations have been completed to ensure a safe, transparent and professionally managed competition.
The Bihar government extended a warm welcome to all athletes, officials and delegations, expressing hope that the event will promote national unity, harmony and sportsmanship while strengthening India’s athletics landscape.
