The Bihar government has issued an order to expand the official residence of the chief minister in Patna, temporarily incorporating an adjacent property into its campus.
According to a notification released by the state’s building construction department, the existing chief minister’s residence at 1 Anne Marg has been extended to include 5 Deshratna Marg. The move effectively enlarges the campus of the CM’s official accommodation, although officials have described the arrangement as provisional.

The property at 5 Deshratna Marg had previously been allotted to deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary. Under the new order, it will continue to be reserved for the deputy chief minister but will, until further notice, be treated as part of the chief minister’s residential complex.
Officials noted that the proximity of the two properties — with 5 Deshratna Marg located adjacent to 1 Anne Marg — makes the expansion administratively significant. While the order is temporary, it is being viewed as an important development within the state’s administrative framework.
No timeline has been specified for how long the revised arrangement will remain in effect.
