Patna: Samrat Choudhary, the chief minister of Bihar, visited the temple town of Deoghar on Sunday, where he offered prayers at the revered Baidyanath Dham and sought blessings for the state’s progress.
Choudhary arrived in Deoghar by helicopter in the afternoon and was received with a guard of honour at the local airport before proceeding to the temple complex. At Baidyanath Dham, one of Hinduism’s most significant pilgrimage sites, he performed rituals in accordance with traditional practices, guided by temple priests and accompanied by Vedic chants.

Security was tightened across the city ahead of the visit, with police deployed along key routes and traffic movement regulated to ensure smooth passage for the chief minister’s convoy.
Following his visit to Baidyanath Dham, Choudhary travelled to the nearby Basukinath Temple, another prominent shrine in the region, where he also offered prayers.
According to officials, the chief minister was scheduled to return to Deoghar later in the day and stay at the circuit house before attending a private event in the city. He is expected to depart for Patna after completing his engagements.
Speaking after the ritual, Choudhary said he had prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Bihar, as well as for the state’s continued development.
