Patna: The Prime Minister’s Jan Vikas Programme (PMJVP) has been extended across all 38 districts of Bihar in the current financial year, marking a major expansion of development initiatives aimed at minority-dominated regions. Earlier, the scheme was implemented in only 20 districts of the state.
According to official information shared by the Central Government with the Bihar Department of Minority Welfare, the expansion is expected to speed up infrastructure development and improve basic facilities in areas with a high concentration of minority populations.
Department Secretary Md. Sohail said that the programme focuses on the construction of key infrastructure such as school buildings, Sadbhav Mandaps (community harmony centres), health sub-centres, community health centres, and additional primary health centres. These projects aim to strengthen education, healthcare, and social development at the grassroots level.
As per the communication, development works under the PMJVP are already underway in 75 blocks across 20 districts and in eight urban centres, including municipal corporations, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats. A special development package has also been allocated for these regions.
Officials said the primary objective of the scheme is to improve living standards in minority-dominated areas by ensuring better access to education, healthcare, and essential infrastructure, thereby integrating these communities more effectively into the mainstream development process.
