Patna: Bihar Road Project 2026: Buxar district is set to receive a major road infrastructure upgrade, with a project worth more than Rs 108 crore planned for the development and maintenance of 17 roads. The Bihar government’s Road Construction Department has taken up the work under OPRMC-III Package 36B, covering road improvement and long-term maintenance in the district. The package has an estimated value of around Rs 108.44 crore in the government tender records.
The project will not be limited to road construction and strengthening. The plan also includes maintenance of the selected roads for the next seven years, or 84 months. Repairs, strengthening work, emergency maintenance, drainage improvements and road safety measures will form part of the project.
The objective is to improve connectivity on important routes across Buxar and make travel safer and smoother for daily commuters. Better roads are also expected to benefit farmers, traders, students and residents travelling between rural areas and major parts of the district.
17 roads connected to NHs and State Highways
The package includes 17 roads that connect with important National Highways and State Highways. These include roads linked to NH-30 and NH-120 as well as SH-13, SH-14 and SH-17.
Improvement of these routes is expected to make movement easier between several rural and important areas of Buxar. The upgraded road network could also improve connectivity with major highways and facilitate the movement of people and goods.
Culverts and drainage to address waterlogging
The project will focus not only on the road surface but also on drainage and water management. Culverts and other drainage structures will be constructed wherever required.
These measures are aimed at reducing waterlogging during the monsoon and limiting damage to roads caused by heavy rainfall and flooding. Better drainage could also help improve the durability of the newly upgraded roads.
Roads to be maintained for seven years
The project includes seven years of quality maintenance, rather than focusing only on initial construction. During the initial phase, potholes and other defects will be repaired and the roads will be strengthened wherever necessary.
Periodic strengthening and resurfacing with fresh bituminous layers will also be carried out during the maintenance period. Regular cleaning, minor repairs and removal of vegetation along the roadside will also form part of the maintenance work.
Emergency repairs will be undertaken if roads are damaged due to accidents, natural disasters or other unforeseen situations.
Road safety has also been given special attention under the project. Thermoplastic road markings will be provided to make lane and road directions clearer for motorists and improve safety.
The project also contains provisions to protect underground pipelines and cables during construction and maintenance. Unauthorised digging in the road area will not be permitted. Before any excavation work, the ‘Call Before You Dig’ app will have to be used as required under the project provisions.

The 17 roads included in the Buxar package are:
- Dinara NH-30 to Jalhara SH-17 Road – 16.226 km.
- Chausa Gola-Buxar Road, SH-13 – 10.802 km, from km 0.00 to 10.802.
- Mohania Panjraw Pul to Chausa Gola Road, SH-14 – 3.390 km.
- Parsathua Bazaar NH-30 to Mahavir Sthan SH-14 Road – 12.540 km.
- Chausa-Dhansoin Road – 17.500 km.
- Chausa-Chunni-Pawani-Kamarpur Road – 4.365 km, from km 0.00 to 4.365.
- Chausa-Chunni-Pawani-Kamarpur Road – 6.325 km, from km 4.365 to 10.69.
- Padri-Sonvarsha Road – 4 km, from km 0.00 to 4.00.
- Padri-Sonvarsha Road – 3 km, from km 4.00 to 7.00.
- Arrah-Buxar Road – 1.200 km, from km 0.80 to 2.00.
- Approach Road to Chausa-Karmanasha Road – 0.735 km.
- Approach Road to HCL Bridge at Deval Ghat – 0.950 km.
- Sarenja SH-17 to Koran Sarai NH-120 Road – 28.650 km.
- Arrah-Buxar Road – 0.800 km, from km 0.00 to 0.80.

With these 17 roads included in the package, the Buxar road network is set for a significant upgrade. Along with better road surfaces, the long-term maintenance, drainage and safety provisions are expected to improve the quality and reliability of these important routes.
