Patna: The Bihar government has constituted a high-level crisis management group (CMG) to monitor essential supplies and safeguard migrant workers in view of the evolving situation in West Asia.
The group, to be chaired by the chief secretary, will oversee the availability of essential commodities and coordinate response strategies to address any disruptions arising from global developments.
Senior officials from key departments, including home, agriculture, health, urban development, food and consumer protection, cooperatives, labour resources, energy, transport and disaster management, have been included in the panel. The department of food and consumer protection has been designated as the nodal agency.
Officials said the CMG will monitor supply chains across the state, ensure uninterrupted access to essential goods and take coordinated action to manage any emerging crisis.
The group will also focus on protecting the interests of migrant workers, particularly those who may be affected by developments in West Asia.
An initial meeting of the panel is scheduled for March 30 at the chief secretary’s office, followed by a video conference with divisional commissioners and district officials to strengthen coordination at the ground level.
Authorities said additional departments may be brought into the group if required, as the state prepares to respond to potential challenges linked to the international situation.
