Patna: The Bihar government has blacklisted a private contractor over delays in the construction of a key road along the India–Nepal border, stepping up pressure on companies handling public infrastructure projects. JKM Infra Projects has been barred from bidding for or securing any government tenders in the state after failing to meet agreed deadlines.
The road, considered strategically important for improving connectivity and economic activity in border districts, was scheduled for completion by October 25, 2025. Officials later extended the deadline to December 30,2025, but the company was unable to finish the work within the revised timeframe, according to the Road Construction Department.
Authorities said the contractor’s progress remained slow despite repeated reminders. The department sought an explanation from the firm, but the response was deemed unsatisfactory. Acting on the recommendation of the executive engineer, the government proceeded with the debarment, effectively excluding the company from future public works contracts in Bihar.
Road construction minister Dilip Jaiswal said the state would not compromise on standards or timelines, especially in projects with strategic and developmental significance. “Delays increase costs and hamper connectivity and regional growth,” he said, adding that accountability would be strictly enforced.
Departmental officials described the move as a clear warning to other contractors. They stressed that negligence, delays or failure to adhere to quality norms in government projects would invite strict action. Ensuring transparency, timely delivery and public interest in road development, the minister added, remains the administration’s top priority.
