Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has received a death threat via WhatsApp, triggering concerns over political security in the state. The message, sent late Saturday night to the mobile phone of one of his workers, stated: “I will shoot Samrat Chaudhary within 24 hours, I am speaking the truth.”
The message was sent from the mobile number 6367263657. When checked on Truecaller, the number appeared under the name Vikram Yadav. However, the police have yet to confirm the identity of the sender. The Central Superintendent of Police, Diksha, stated that no official complaint had been registered as of now, and investigations were ongoing to trace the location of the sender using technical support.
In response to the threat, Samrat remained unfazed. “Whoever wants to threaten, let them do so,” he said, as his supporters confirmed heightened security arrangements at his residence and upcoming event venues.
This incident follows a similar threat received by former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha, who reported that three threatening messages were sent to his phone between 7:25 pm and 7:36 pm on July 7 from mobile number 7780012505. He stated publicly that such threats would not deter him and vowed to “shake the whole of Bihar.”
Authorities are continuing their inquiries into both cases, and calls have been made for swift action to ensure the safety of public representatives amid growing concerns over political intimidation.
