Patna: The Bihar government has sanctioned a comprehensive Rs 22.14 crore infrastructure upgrade aimed at easing traffic congestion across key routes in Patna. The project will involve widening and strengthening major roads including Vivekananda Marg—leading to the Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple near Boring Road—as well as Indira Sinha Path, Rajendra Path, Veer Shivaji Path, and several others.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced the plan on Thursday, highlighting its goal to not only alleviate traffic woes but also enhance the city’s visual appeal and commuting convenience. “With the upcoming inauguration of the new terminal at Patna Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ongoing expansion of JP Ganga Path, traffic volume is expected to increase substantially. This road-widening plan anticipates that pressure,” said Choudhary.
The scheme, cleared by both the Public Finance Committee and the Standing Finance Committee, will now move to the implementation stage under the supervision of the concerned departments. Roads under the jurisdiction of other departments will be worked on only once officially transferred to the Patna Municipal Corporation or the Road Construction Department. Additionally, roads still within their maintenance guarantee period will not be reconstructed until that term ends.
