Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary on September 3 inspected the Control Command Centre at the Water Resources Department’s Irrigation Building in Patna and reviewed flood-fighting operations being carried out across the state.
Chaudhary reviewed the situation through video conferencing and sought updates from officials on the rising water levels of the Punpun and Dardha rivers, along with the status of flood-fighting measures in vulnerable areas.
He also reviewed ongoing work at the Kajikoraiya-Raghopur embankment in Kharik block of Bhagalpur and in areas affected by riverbank erosion.
Officials Directed To Maintain Vigilance
While reviewing the progress of flood-fighting operations in sensitive and erosion-prone areas, Chaudhary directed officials to work with full preparedness and vigilance.
He stressed the need for continuous monitoring of flood-fighting works so that potential damage can be controlled in time and the safety of residents in affected areas can be ensured.
The minister instructed the department’s officials and engineers to maintain a constant watch on field-level operations and take immediate action whenever required.
Control Command Centre To Track Flood Situation
Chaudhary directed officials to ensure regular monitoring of conditions in different areas through the Control Command Centre.
He also asked the team to take prompt cognisance of information received from local officials and field-level sources so that necessary action could be initiated without delay.
The minister praised the Water Resources Department’s secretary, engineers and other members of the team for their work on flood-fighting measures and encouraged them to continue monitoring vulnerable locations closely.
The review comes amid rising water levels in the Punpun and Dardha rivers and ongoing concerns in erosion-prone areas, making continuous surveillance and timely intervention important for managing the flood situation.
